CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati senior defensive end Connor Barwin (Hazel Park, Mich./U. of Detroit Jesuit) accepted an invitation to the 2009 Under Armour Senior Bowl Tuesday, bringing the total number of Bearcats on the roster to five.

Offensive lineman Trevor Canfield (Cincinnati, Ohio/Western Hills), punter Kevin Huber (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas), defensive back Mike Mickens (Hubert Hts., Ohio/Wayne), and defensive back DeAngelo Smith (Columbus, Ohio/Independence) were named to the roster in early November.

The 2009 game takes place at 7 p.m. ET on Jan. 24, 2009 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. The NFL network is scheduled to televise the contest. Tickets for the 2009 game are currently available for purchase online at www.seniorbowl.com or by calling the Senior Bowl ticket office at either (888) 736-2695 or (251) 432-4109.

Barwin, a converted tight end playing his first season on defense, averaged almost a sack per game (0.9), leading UC and the BIG EAST, while ranking 16th nationally. His 11 sacks were two off the school record of 13, set a year ago. He finished with 53 tackles, 16 which went for a loss. He blocked three punts, broke up eight passes, and had seven quarterback hurries. He also had a 1-yard touchdown reception in UC's win over USF on Oct. 30.

The UC defense paced the BIG EAST in both sacks and tackles for a loss. Barwin was a First-Team all-BIG EAST selection and an honorable mention all-America honoree by Sports Illustrated

Cincinnati is the sixth school to send five or more players to a Senior Bowl since 2005. Only one school, Southern Cal (6), will send more players to the 2009 game. UC and LSU will both send five to the game.

UC has sent 21 players to the Senior Bowl, with Trent Cole the last to earn the honor in 2004. The Bearcats sent four players to the 1997 game. During the 1960 event, former standout Jackie Lee earned MVP honors for the game.

The Senior Bowl is the nation's most unique football game and football's premier pre-draft event, annually featuring the country's best senior collegiate football stars and top NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South. The teams are coached by the entire coaching staffs from two NFL teams. Senior Bowl practices are also attended by over 800 general managers, head coaches, assistant coaches, scouts, and other front office personnel from the 32 NFL teams, making Mobile and the Senior Bowl the week-long host to a one-of-a-kind NFL Coaches Convention.
