CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team opened its 2008-09 season with a 4-3 victory over Morehead State University. The win is the first for Angela Wilson, who was named the new head coach in September.
The Bearcats won the match with its singles play, taking four out of the six contests. Morehead State took the double point by winning two of three.
UC used a combination of experience and new faces in the win as seniors Val Dandik and Elizabeth Young along with freshmen Kesnia Slynko and Jessica Wise each earned victories.
Cincinnati (1-0) opens its home schedule next weekend with matches on Saturday, Jan. 24 vs. Toledo at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 25 vs. Marshall at 4 p.m. The matches will take place at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.
