STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - In the opening day of the Penn State National, the University of Cincinnati indoor track and field team had some season-best performances in an elite field of competitors.
Sophomore Kaylon Eppinger qualified for the semifinals in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.66 seconds. In the semifinals, Eppinger ran strong with a time of 8.68 seconds, but just missed qualifying for the finals after finishing in 12th.
Sophomore Natasha Burse continued her success in the 60 meter dash, qualifying for the semifinals with a 12th-place time of 7.63 seconds. In the semifinals, Burse improved her time by eight-tenths of a second, but finished eight one-thousandths of a second behind the eighth-place finisher, just missing out on qualifying for the finals. Burse's time of 7.55 is a new school record.
In the weight throw, senior Lisa Klotz threw 47' 05 ¼", finishing in 22nd place.
On Saturday, UC has participants scheduled to compete in the 400 meters, 200 meters, high jump, shot put, 4x400 relay, and pole vault.
