KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Kate Moore (Shepparton, Australia/Goulburn Valley Grammar) fired an opening-round 81 to pace the University of Cincinnati women's golf team to 35th-place tie after the first round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic at the Cougar Point Golf Course on Sunday, Feb. 22.

Anna Cumtell (Halmstad, Sweden) and Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Philippines/Miriam College) shot identical 84s, while Jenny Linville West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West and Marianne Erb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) posted first-round 85s.

Linville was one of four golfers to produce an eagle on the 422-yard par five fourth on the day.

The Bearcats' first-round 334 puts them in a tie for 35th place with South Carolina-Upstate and Missouri State.

Miami (Fla.) and East Tennessee State are tied for the team lead after firing 300 over the first 18 holes.

Stephanie Connelly of Central Florida leads the individual scoring after a two-under par 70 in the first round.

Round two will get underway at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning, Feb. 23, with final-round tee times set for Tuesday morning.
