Connor Barwin Interview

Six former University of Cincinnati football student-athletes are participating in the 2009 NFL Scouting Combine, which runs through Feb. 24 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

Connor Barwin (Hazel Park, Mich./U. of Detroit Jesuit), Trevor Canfield (Cincinnati, Ohio/Western Hills), Kevin Huber (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas), Mike Mickens (Hubert Hts., Ohio/Wayne), DeAngelo Smith (Columbus, Ohio/Independence), and Brandon Underwood (Hamilton, Ohio/Hamilton/Ohio State) have all been selected for participation in the prestigious pre-draft event.

Barwin, Canfield, Huber, and Smith all participated in the Under Armour Senior Bowl, while Underwood played in the East-West Shrine Game. Mickens was selected for the Senior Bowl and participated in the first portion of the event but had to withdraw from the game due to a knee injury.

Barwin had a standout workout day among the defensive line group Monday. He had the top vertical jump (40.5), broad jump (10'8"), 3-cone drill (6.87), and 20-yard shuttle (4.18) marks among all defensive lineman and also recorded the second-best 40-yard dash time (4.66).

The Beacats' six participants are the most of all BIG EAST teams. Twenty-five league players were selected for the combine.

The combine is the annual job fair for prospective new NFL players. For six days, players are put through a series of drills, tests, and interviews with more than 600 NFL personnel, including head coaches, general managers, and scouts.
