CEDARVILLE, Ohio - University of Cincinnati men's soccer players Luke Henke (Wauwatosa, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran) and Branden Stelmak (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) have been named to the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA) Academic All-Ohio second team.
Henke, a two-year starter along the backline, was named the College of Applied Science Scholar Athlete of the Month for November, 2008. He has played in 40 matches in his career and made 27 starts. He picked up his first career assist against Seton Hall on Sept. 23, 2007. A junior accounting major, Henke holds a 3.51 grade point average.
UC's leading goal scorer in 2008, Stelmak tallied four goals and an assist for a team-leading nine points. The sophomore scored game winners against Xavier, Alabama A&M, and Rutgers in 2008, his first year as a starter. The forward scored his first career goal in the season-opener against the rival Musketeers. He holds a 3.22 GPA in operations management.
There were 23 selections on the first and second team from the Division I, II, and NAIA levels.
Henke, Stelmak and the Bearcats will open up their spring preparations on April 3 with the annual alumni match, slated for 6 p.m. in Gettler Stadium.
