BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - University of Cincinnati swimmer Elinore de Jong broke a school record in the 100 butterfly, and bettered her own NCAA 'B' time a the Indiana Last Chance Meet at the Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center on the campus of Indiana University.
De Jong clocked 53.24 in the 100 butterfly, bettering her previous NCAA 'B' cut time of 53.80, set at the BIG EAST Championships a week ago. It breaks the previous school mark of 53.51, set by Ann Degenstein in 2006. De Jong's time would have qualified for the NCAA meet a year ago.
It is the sixth school record de Jong has been involved with during the 2008-09 season and the sixth overall for the women's squad.
The 2009 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championship will take place from March 26-28 at the Student Recreation Center Natatorium in College Station, Texas.
