CINCINNATI - Laura Simanski (Reisterstown, Md./Roland Park) scored four goals for the University of Cincinnati lacrosse team but the Bearcats lost, 19-7, to No. 10/10 Vanderbilt University on Sunday afternoon at Nippert Stadium.

The two teams traded goals early in the first half with Cincinnati taking a 3-2 lead at the 20:58 mark of the first period. Vanderbilt responded with six unanswered goals and pushed out to an 11-4 halftime lead that the Bearcats were unable to overcome.

Simanski recorded her fifth hat trick of the season while Lindsey Marshall (Hilliard, Ohio/Ohio), Jenn Doran (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township), and MacKenzie Parsons (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) each recorded a goal for Cincinnati. Sarah Downing led the Commodores with four goals.

Cincinnati dropped to 4-3 on the year while Vanderbilt improved to 3-3 overall. The Bearcats were outshot 43-17 for the game. Katherine Russo (Westminster, Md./Winters Mills) recorded 11 saves in goal for the Bearcats.

UC will return to the field on Wednesday, March 25 at 1 p.m. when they take on Fresno State at Nippert Stadium.
