CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics, UC Student Government, and the RallyCats student organization have joined together to provide all UC students with 1,000 `Convenience' Student Football Season Tickets for the 2009 season.
On Wednesday March 4, UC Student Government passed a resolution bill supporting the Department of Athletics selling 1,000 `Convenience' Student Football Season Tickets for $30 per seat. Students purchasing one of the 1,000 season tickets receive the conveniences of not having to stand in line to get their ticket in advance of game day, a guaranteed ticket in the student section, and the opportunity to purchase up to two Guest Season Ticket Packages for $150 per seat (total allotment is 500).
The $30 ticket cost breaks down to $5 per game. Expenses will include marketing and administrative materials, man power and additional expenditures associated with the creation of the package. Season tickets purchased online will be assessed an additional $5 online processing fee. The student seating at Nippert Stadium is located in the south end zone in sections 111-115 and includes 5,884 seats.
As an added benefit, UCATS will provide 25 priority points per year per student football season ticket purchase to a UCATS membership with a limit of four years. The 25 points equates to a $500 donation to UCATS in the current point structure. The priority points will become active when the student becomes an UCATS member. Priority points are used in determining the order of selection for non-student season tickets, bowl/postseason tickets as well as parking assignments for season pass holders.
"The hope of this partnership and the new ticket program is to provide UC students with a more convenient way to attend football games and cheer on the Bearcats this season. It has been their enthusiasm that has transformed Nippert Stadium into one of the best home field advantages in college football. The trend of student season tickets has been growing around the country and we are happy that we are able to partner with out student government and find a way to provide a student season ticket package, while maintaining free tickets at the same time," says UC Director of Athletics Mike Thomas.
The Student Football Season Ticket Packages go on sale to all UC students on April 2 by visiting CATSTIX.com, or by visiting the UC Athletics Ticket Office with a valid student ID. The Athletics Ticket Office is located in the Richard E. Lindner Center and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Students who purchase the season ticket by April 25 receive a commemorative replica BIG EAST Conference Championship Ring. Incoming freshmen will have an opportunity to purchase the season ticket when he/she receives their ID/M-number during orientation. Students must be enrolled to receive their season tickets in the mail in late August. Ten days prior to each home game, the remaining tickets will be made available free of charge on a game-by-game basis. UC students must order online or in person at the Athletics Ticket Office. Unused season tickets will be added to the 3,884 free tickets.
"Our partnership with UC Athletics grows every year. We think it is important for us to lobby for the students' rights and interests as well as support the growing spirit for the Bearcats," says Ryan Rosensweig, Student Body President. "Our Student Government team led by Senator Tim Lolli has done a fantastic job developing a program which will create a new dynamic at our home football games."
This policy will be evaluated and adapted for the 2009-2010 Men's Basketball season with details to be announced before the end of the 2009 Spring Quarter.
