CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team earned its fifth victory in its last six matches with a 4-3 win over Southern Illinois at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.
UC clawed its way through the close match with wins in four of the six singles matches by Jennifer Rowen, Valeriya Dandik, Safiyya Ismail, and Elizabeth Young. The match came down to Ismail's three-set victory at the No. 5 spot to clinch the match. Ismail came back after losing the second set, 10-8, in a tie breaker, to win the third, 6-2.
The Bearcats, who improve their record to 7-5 overall, are off until Tuesday, March 3 when they travel to Richmond, Ky., to take on Eastern Kentucky at 2 p.m.
