PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The University of Cincinnati baseball team fell to the Pittsburgh Panthers, 5-0, in the second game of a three-game set Saturday afternoon at Trees Field. Cincinnati (9-8; 0-2 BIG EAST) recorded six hits on the day and three of which came from sophomore Nick Rohlfs (Loveland, Ohio/Moeller), who was a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate. Pittsburgh (11-5; 2-0 BIG EAST) scored five runs on nine hits.
The Panthers scored one run in the first and third innings to build a 2-0 lead, before doubling their lead with two runs in the fourth frame. A Frank Mercurio home run in the bottom of the sixth widened the Pitt lead to five runs, 5-0.
Pittsburgh and Cincinnati conclude their three-game series at Noon on Sunday, March 22. The starters for Sunday's match-up are yet to be determined.
