CINCINNATI – A native of Pleasant Ridge and graduate of Withrow High School class of 1943, Herbert A. Middendorff has been a friend of University of Cincinnati Athletics and UCATS since making his first gift to UC in 1968 and pledging to Athletics seven years later. His support continued for over four decades as a generous supporter who assisted with athletics facilities upgrades and as a loyal member of the George D. Smith Society.
Middendorff was one of the most respected figures within the UCATS program and served as a member of the UCATS Board of Directors. In 2007, he was inducted into the Order of the Black Blazer, one of the department's highest recognitions. The honor is given based on a person’s long and distinguished service to Bearcats Athletics.
Middendorff's giving was not limited to UC, having been involved in countless causes in the City of Cincinnati. His many associations include being a former Board of Directors member and President of the Cincinnati Zoo.
He built his career in real estate eventually becoming Executive Vice President of the companies Robson-Middendorff Realtors and West Shell. Middendorff also served on the Board of Directors for the Cincinnati Board of Realtors. He was also a member of the Board of Directors at the Kenwood Country Club, Director of the Cincinnati Royals, and was member of the Cincinnati Police Association.
Father of Pamela Middendorff, Middendorff is also survived by grandchildren Lauren & Steven Mayne, Jeff Mayne and Jeff Foster.
