COLLEGE STATION, Texas - University of Cincinnati swimmer Josh Schneider placed 15th in the 50-yard freestyle on day one of the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championship, Thursday at the Student Rec Center Natatorium on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

The junior clocked 19.43, which was just over his preliminary time of 19.32. The consolation final was won in 18.96 by Austin Staab of Stanford. Cal's Nathan Adrian won the championship final with an American Record time of 18.71.

Schneider is back in the pool Friday to swim the 100 butterfly. He qualified as the No. 30 seed with a time of 46.78, set at the BIG EAST Championships. He will also swim the 100 freestyle on Saturday.

The 100 butterfly is the third event on the Friday program, while the 100 freestyle is the second event Saturday. Preliminaries begin at 1 p.m. and finals start at 8 p.m. each day. The top-16 swimmers in each event qualify for the finals.
