CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team finished fourth at the UC Women's Spring Invitational on Saturday (March 28) at the Plantation Golf Resort and Spa.
Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Philippines/Miriam College) led the Bearcats with a sixth-place finish. Dela Paz finished with a 72-78-80=230.
Anna Cumtell (Halmstad, Sweden) was four shots back of teammate Dela Paz, finishing with a 74-75-85=234. Marianne Erb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) and Kate Moore (Shepparton, Australia/Goulburn Grammar) finished tied for 25th and 29th with rounds of 76-78-83=237 and 78-77-83=238, respectively.
UC led by seven strokes after two rounds, but was unable to hold the lead during a windy final round that saw scores rise steadily with the wind gusts.
Baylor was the team champion (307-309-302=918), followed by BIG EAST foe USF (308-307-306=921), and Stetson (307-310-309=926). Cincinnati's (300-308-329=937) fourth-place finish is its best of the spring season and the 300 total in the first round was the tournament low.
Florida Atlantic's Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn won the individual title (74-77-72=223), while Jordan Rhodes (75-75-75=225) of Baylor, playing as an individual, was second.
The Bearcats are next in action on April 6-7 at the Canes and Cardinals Classic in Miami, Fla.
