RIO VERDE, Ariz. - Marianne Erb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) fired a final round 79 and finished in a tie for 40th to lead the University of Cincinnati women's golf team to a tie for 16th at the Duramed Collegiate Invitational on Sunday (March 8) at the Rio Verde Golf and Country Club.
Erb finished with a 79-75-79=233 for a tie for 40th. She was one of four players to record an eagle during the tournament, holing out on her second shot at the par-four seventh hole in round two.
Kate Moore (Shepparton, Australia/Goulburn Grammar) was one shot back, finishing with a 78-77-79=234 for a tie for 42nd.
Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Philippines/Miriam College) and Anna Cumtell (Halstad, Sweden) tied for 51st, each finishing at 236. Dela Paz (78-83-75=236) posted her top round on the third day, while Cumtell (76-76-84=236) struggled on the final day with an 84.
Kansas' Meghan Gockel (73-72-73=218) defeated Arkansas-Little Rock's Sara Wikstrom (74-73-71=218) on the first hold of a sudden death playoff to win medalist honors.
Kansas won the team title, finishing with a 294-295-294=883, 24 shots ahead of Arkansas-Little Rock (312-298-297=907). The Bearcats tied Bradley in 16th place with a three-round total of 311-311-317=939.
The Bearcats host the UC Spring Invitational at the Plantation Golf Course in Crystal River, Fla., on March 27-28.
