Final Results

DADE CITY, Fla. - The University of Cincinnati men's golf team finished 23rd at the Ron Smith Invitational on Sunday (March 8) at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.

Joe Kastelic (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard) paced the Bearcats with a 74-79-73=226. He finished in a tie for 83rd place.

Alberto Fernandez (Gijorn, Spain/La Corolla) was three shots back of his teammate, finishing in a tie for 93rd after a three-round total of 77-75-77=229.

Texas Tech (285-289-284=858) and Florida Southern (286-289-283=858) shared the team title, finishing at six-under 858. UC posted a three-round total of 311-309-312=932.

Santiago Rivas of Texas Tech and Matt Stauch of Florida Southern, the tournament's 36-hole leader, shared medalist honors at nine-under par.

This was UC's first spring outing after last week's Tennessee-Martin Invitational was canceled due to unplayable conditions thanks to snow in the Jackson, Tenn., area.

The Bearcats will take part in the Linger Longer Invitational on March 20-21 in Atlanta, Ga.
