CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati senior tennis player Jennifer Rowen (Little Rock, Ark./New Braunfels) was named the BIG EAST Conference women's tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced today. Rowen is the second UC tennis player to earn the honor this season, joining teammate Ksenia Slynko who earned the honor Feb. 16-22.
Rowen helped the Bearcats extend their winning streak to five matches as they won four conference matches over Spring Break knocking off St. John's (5-2), Seton Hall (4-3), Providence (7-0), and Connecticut (7-0). Rowen won all four of her singles matches during the week and three of her four doubles contests with her partner Elizabeth Young.
The Bearcats are 13-6 overall and 5-1 in the BIG EAST and are looking to make the BIG EAST Conference Championship under first-year head coach Angela Wilson. UC's 13 wins this season are its most since 2001-02.
