DADE CITY, Fla. - The University of Cincinnati men's and women's golf teams held steady on Day Two of the 2009 BIG EAST Championships at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club. The women sit in third place, while the men are 10th after 36 holes.

The women posted a second-round total of 313 to sit in third place with a two-round total of 301-313=614, two shots ahead of fourth-place Georgetown (308-308=616). Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Philippines/Miriam College) is the top scorer through 36 holes for UC, carding rounds of 75-75=150, which is good for a share of eighth place. Anna Cumtell (Halmstad, Sweden) is one shot behind with a total of 72-79=151 tied for 12th.

On the men's side, Alberto Fernandez (Gijorn, Spain/La Corolla) continued his strong play, carding an even-par round of 72 in the second round. He stands in a tie for sixth at one under par (71-72=143) through 36. Joe Kastelic (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard) is five over par (76-73=149), sitting in a tie for 29th. The Bearcats are 10th (304-300=604) in the team competition, four shots up on Villanova (312-296=608) and six behind ninth-place DePaul (297-301=598).

The Louisville men and women lead their respective team races. The Cardinal men posted rounds of 282-286=568, good for an 11-shot lead over second-place Marquette (292-287=579). The Cardinal women (279-302=581) hold a 12-stroke advantage over Notre Dame (295-298=593).

The third and final round gets underway from Lake Jovita on Tuesday, April 21, at 8 p.m.
