DADE CITY, Fla. - The University of Cincinnati women's and men's golf teams finished third and 11th, respectively, at the 2009 BIG EAST Championships on Tuesday at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.

Alberto Fernandez (Gijorn, Spain/La Corolla) finished 10th in the individual competition at one under par (71-72-72=215). Joe Kastelic (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard) was seven shots back of Fernandez after rounds of 76-73-73=222.

The Bearcats team total of 304-300-302=906 was four shots back of Villanova (312-296-294=902) and 11 shots ahead of 12th-place Connecticut (324-292-301=917).

Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Philippines/Miriam College) finished eighth with rounds of 75-75-72=222. She was followed by senior Marianne Erb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) and Anna Cumtell (Halmstad, Sweden), who fired rounds of 78-77-77=232 and 72-79-82=233, respectively.

UC finished in a third-place tie with Georgetown with rounds of 301-313-303=917. Fifth-place USF was one shot back with a three-round total of 308-311-299=918.

Louisville won the men's and women's team titles. The Cardinal men (282-286-279=847) topped Marquette (292-287-273=852) by five strokes. On the men's side, U of L's Adam Hadwin won individual medalist honors with rounds of 70-70-67=207, nine under par. Lisa Maunu of Notre Dame won the women's individual title at one under (74-71-70=215).
