The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team plays its final game of the 2009 season in a non-conference game against Detroit on Monday, April 27, at 7 p.m. The game will take place at Tomahawk Stadium at Indian Hill High School in Cincinnati. Detroit is in its inaugural season of play and is coached by Mary Ann Meltzer. The Titans are coming off a 21-4 loss to No. 15 Ohio State in their final home game of the 2009 season on April 14 and have a 4-7 overall record. Statistically, Detroit is led by Emily Boissonneault who has a team-high 42 goals and 42 points. Brett Yenger, a Cincinnati native and graduate of Sycamore High School, has started every game in goal for the Titans and has 120 saves on the year.

UC's game against Louisville on April 15 served as Senior Night for UC's lone senior, Lindsey Marshall. Marshall, who has served as a team captain for the past two years, has provided leadership both on and off the field for the Bearcats. She finished the game against Louisville with two goals and two ground balls. Also honored at the game was senior Jared Kagrise, the team manager for the Bearcats.

Sophomore Allison Bell and junior Jen Mott both graduated from Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, the same high school freshman goalie Brett Yenger graduated from for the Detroit Titans.

Cincinnati is led statistically by freshman Laura Simanski, who has 44 goals, 48 points, and four assists in 2009. Simanski has surpassed the season-high 30 goals and season-high 32 points that teammate Lindsey Marshall achieved last season.

Freshman Ali Mattingly scored a career-high five goals in a 12-10 win against Le Moyne on April 19 and tallied nine points and eight goals for the week (against Louisville and at No. 7/6 Georgetown). As a result, Mattingly was named to the final BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll of the 2009 season.

Katherine Russo, who has started all 16 games for the Bearcats, was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season after her performance against nationally ranked Johns Hopkins and Villanova. Russo gave up 18 goals for the week, but had 22 saves, including two crucial saves with 23 and 17 seconds remaining in the victory over Villanova. She was also named to the Honor Roll for the week of Feb. 23. Russo had a season-high 17 saves against Loyola and has recorded 150 saves on the year.

Lynsey Burton , MacKenzie Parsons, and Natalie Starvaggi each have 10-plus goals this season. Burton has scored the first goal of a game four times in her career - including the first goal in UC history last season, on a free position attempt at the 22:10 mark of the first period at Vanderbilt on Feb. 14, 2008. Burton has found the back of the net 15 times this year while Parsons has scored 13 goals this season. Starvaggi surpassed her number of goals scored in 2008 (8) at Connecticut (March 27) and has 14 goals in 2009.
