CINCINNATI - Three University of Cincinnati lacrosse players notched hat tricks to lead the University of Cincinnati to a 15-6 victory over Detroit on Monday night in the final game of the year for the Bearcats. UC played its non-conference game against Detroit at Indian Hill High School and improved to 7-10 on the year while the Titans dropped to 4-8 overall.
Lynsey Burton (Smithtown, N.Y./Ohio) scored the first goal of the game and of her hat trick at the 29:08 mark of the first period. Burton added goals with 36 seconds remaining in the first period and with 3:41 left in the game.
Laura Simanski (Reisterstown, Md./Roland Park) scored goals at the 12:20 mark of the first period and with 23:57 and 10:03 left in the game. Lindsey Marshall (Hilliard, Ohio/Ohio) played her final game as a Bearcat and scored three consecutive goals in the second period, at the 28:07, 27:48, and 26:17 marks.
Natalie Starvaggi (Loveland, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) and MacKenzie Parsons (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) each scored two goals for UC while Ali Mattingly (Davidsonville, Md./South River) and Jenn Doran (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) tallied a goal apiece.
Katherine Russo (Westminster, Md./Winters Mills) had seven saves in goal for the Bearcats and earned the win.
