CINCINNATI - After a record-setting turnout in 2008, the fourth annual University of Cincinnati Women's Football 101 is set for June 11 at Nippert Stadium and the Richard E. Lindner Center. Ladies, this is your chance to increase your football knowledge, mingle with UC coaches and their wives, and support a great cause.
The clinic, presented by Panera Bread, Trauth Dairy, and Post Printing and hosted by Paqui Kelly, wife of head coach Brian Kelly, and Jeni Thomas, wife of Director of Athletics Mike Thomas, will take place on Thursday, June 11, from 5:30-10 p.m. at the Richard E. Lindner Center and Nippert Stadium.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the University of Cincinnati Breast Cancer Research Foundation affiliated with the Barrett Center's clinical, educational, and research programs.
"It was exciting to see a record crowd come out last year and we hope to have another great showing this year," Paqui Kelly said. "We've been able to double our donation every year, and the proceeds benefit a great cause. I look forward to seeing the women from the Greater Cincinnati area come together, have fun, and learn about football."
In 2008, almost $4,000 was donated to the UC Barrett Center as a result of Football 101.
Members of the UC coaching staff will be on hand to lead sessions on offense, defense, and special teams. BIG EAST official Bob Welch will also be on hand to discuss officiating and demonstrate signals. The evening will include happy hour, hors d'oeuvres, prizes, and more. Facility tours will be available.
Registration is $50 per person and includes a complimentary gift pack. Registration forms can be obtained from the football page at GoBEARCATS.com and must be returned by June 3. Walk-up registration is $60 per person. For more information, contact the UC Football office at (513) 556-5986.
