CAROLINA, Puerto Rico - Former University of Cincinnati soccer standouts Kenny Anaba and Lionel Jackson have signed with the Carolina Gigantes of the Puerto Rico Soccer League.
Anaba, who was selected by Real Salt Lake in the 2008 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft, has played with the Real Salt Lake and DC United reserves since his final season as a Bearcat in 2007. A three-time all-BIG EAST selection, Anaba led the Bearcats with 10 goals and 23 points in 2007. He earned all-Great Lakes Region honors after the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He finished his career seventh in the UC record books with 26 career goals and eighth with 65 points (26 G, 13 A).
Jackson, a two-year starter for the Bearcats at left back, led the team and finished sixth in the BIG EAST with eight assists in 2007. An offensive weapon on corner kicks and set pieces, he started all 20 matches during his senior campaign and finished his career with one goal and 11 assists.
The Puerto Rico Soccer League is an association football league which features nine clubs. It is the first unified football league in the island's history and is a member of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF). The league began play in 2008.
