University of Cincinnati junior Kevin Johnson (Willard, Ohio/Willard) became the third UC baseball player to be drafted in the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft when he was selected with the 17th pick in the 38th round by the Florida Marlins.
Johnson played in 21 games this season, splitting time between pitching and first base. On the mound, Johnson made 11 appearances, including seven starts, and finished with a 3-3 record. Johnson earned his first win of the season on March 7 against Bradley after completing 6.0 shutout innings with four strikeouts, before striking out a career-high seven batters en route to his second win of the season versus Miami (OH) on March 24.
In limited plate appearances, Johnson hit .207 with four doubles and two RBI.
