CINCINNATI - The College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) has elected Derrick Magee, an Associate Athletics Director/Chief Business Officer for the University of Cincinnati, as its new third Vice President/Secretary for the 2009-10 academic year. The election took place at this year's national convention which was held in Orlando, FL this past June 2009.
Magee joined the University of Cincinnati athletic staff in October 2008 and currently maintains fiscal oversight of the department's $40 million dollar annual budget, which includes 18 sports and 15 administrative and support areas. In addition, he oversees the business and ticket offices, and personnel and payroll operations, which encompass more than 120 employees. Previously, Magee served as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Finance and Internal Affairs at the University of Pacific
Magee recently graduated from the 2009 NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males and Females as one of 22 participants. He is a graduate of Florida A&M University where he earned his B.S. and was a four-year letter winner and former captain of the men's basketball team. He helped lead the Rattlers to their first NCAA tournament appearance in 1998-99. He also earned his MBA in finance from California State University Stanislaus in 2005 and is currently working on his doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of the Pacific.
CABMA is an organization devoted to the establishment, maintenance and implementation of the highest standards of integrity and efficiency in the scope, policies and procedures involved in the management and administration of business in the athletics departments and associations of colleges and universities. CABMA is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
