CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati junior kicker Jacob Rogers (Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw) was one of thirty players named to the initial watch list for the 2009 Lou Groza Award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Thursday.

Rogers, a 2009 semi-finalist for the award, was 16-for-23 on field goals and 34-of-36 on extra points in 2008. He started off the season by making 13-straight field goals, tying the school record set by Jonathan Ruffin in 2002. His 81 points led the Bearcats and ranked sixth in the BIG EAST while his 54 yard field goal at Connecticut was the longest for league kickers in 2008 and the third-longest in school history.

He had three kicks of 50 yards or more, was named BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week on Nov. 30, 2008, and owns four of the top-10 longest field goals in school history.

The Bearcats will open the 2009 season on Monday, Sept. 7, in a 4 p.m. BIG EAST Conference game at Rutgers. Season tickets are available now by calling 1-877-CATS-TIX or visiting CATSTIX.com.
