With the 2009 University of Cincinnati men's soccer season around the corner, GoBEARCATS.com sat down with 2009 captain senior Luke Henke to talk about his UC soccer experience.
1). What other schools were you considering besides Cincinnati and why did you end up choosing UC?
"I considered Marquette University, DePaul University, and the University of Wisconsin Madison. I ended up choosing Cincinnati because I wanted to get away from home and I loved the facilities when I came on my visit."
2). You're from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. What is the most interesting thing from your town that people don't know?
"The most interesting thing is two people, Devin Harris who plays for the New Jersey Nets and Gerry Smith who plays basketball for Louisville, are both from Wauwatosa. Other than that nothing too interesting."
3). If you could be a celebrity for a day who would it be and why?
"I would be Johnny Drama from Entourage, because he lives the life, I think he's the funniest guy and just lives off of his brother."
4). What is your greatest soccer memory?
"Winning the BIG EAST as a freshmen out at Villanova in overtime. That was the best soccer experience of my life."
5). What's the memorable road trip you have been on here at Cincinnati and why?
"Going to Villanova and winning the BIG EAST and going to St. John's last year on a Friday night and playing on national TV. The atmosphere and intensity made for a fun trip even though we lost."
6). Do you have any unique pregame routines?
"Always have to put on my under shorts first, then I have to put on my left sock first and right sock second, and then I will put on my warm up shirt and then my shorts. Every game, I have to do it."
Cincinnati begins its 2009 season on Friday, Aug. 21 with an exhibition match against Cincinnati State in Gettler Stadium. The regular-season opener is set for Sept. 1 at Dayton.
