This is the second of four installments previewing the 2009 University of Cincinnati volleyball season. UC kicks off its regular season at the Utah Classic Aug. 28-29 in Salt Lake City, before welcoming Youngstown State, Evansville, and the College of Charleston to Fifth Third Arena for the Bearcats Invitational Sept. 4-5.

Now with two years under her belt, 2008 second-team all-conference selection Annie Fesl has the experience needed to send UC to the next level. Last season, Fesl ranked 26th nationally averaging 10.97 assists per set and led the team to a .260 hitting percentage. For the first time in her career, Fesl had the opportunity to compete in UC's Spring Season the extra work allowed Fesl to develop a better rapport with her hitters and improve the location on her sets. As the floor leader and Cincinnati's captain for the 2009 season, Fesl looks to join Laura Lauder as the only setters in program history to lead UC to back-to-back conference titles.

Highly-touted freshman Megan Turner makes her way to Clifton via Ontario, N.Y. While at Wayne Central High School, Turner helped corral a league title, a regional crown, and a Class A championship. According to Sunahara, Turner is one of the best pure athletes in the 2009 recruiting class and her fiery competitiveness will aid her in finding a way onto the court either as a setter or hitter.
