TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - University of Cincinnati junior Branden Stelmak (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) has been named to the Collegesoccernews.com National Team of the Week, the website announced Monday (Sept. 7).
Stelmak was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday after leading UC to a 3-0-0 week, highlighted by a win at No. 18 Dayton on Sept. 1.
The junior forward scored three goals in three matches, including a pair of tallies at No. 18 Dayton. He scored game-winners at Dayton and against Canisius and added an assist in a 2-0 win against Wright State. The Bearcats' leading scorer in 2008 with four goals and nine points, Stelmak already has three goals and seven points thus far in 2009.
After three matches in five days to start the season, UC will now take a five day break before hosting the inaugural adidas Bearcat Classic on Sept. 11 and Sept. 13. The Bearcats will take on Western Illinois on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before playing host to No. 3 Akron on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
