CINCINNATI - Fan voting for the 2009 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year officially opened on Thursday. University of Cincinnati fans have the opportunity to support Bearcats head coach Brian Kelly for the prestigious honor by voting online at coachoftheyear.com.
At the conclusion of the 2009 college football season Liberty Mutual, will honor one coach from each of the four NCAA divisions who demonstrates excellence both on and off the field. The four honorees will each receive $50,000 for charitable activities of their choice and $20,000 for their school's alumni association.
Voting is open from Sept. 14 to Dec. 6 and UC fans can vote once per day for Kelly to help place him among the top 15 vote getters to be considered for the award.
The top 15 coaches selected through the fan voting process will be evaluated on coaching excellence, sportsmanship and integrity, academic excellence and community commitment criteria. In addition to fan voting, respected members of the College Football Hall of Fame and national media members will vote for the coaches they feel most embody the criteria.
