The University of Cincinnati men's and women's basketball teams are scheduled to volunteer for the campus-wide initiative `Helping Hands' for this year's Move-In Weekend. In its ninth year, Helping Hands is a program designed to assist parents and students as they move into the residence halls in September. Volunteers greet students, assist with directions, answer questions, provide ice water, and help unload vehicles.

The University's Move-In Weekend is scheduled for September 18-20, and Helping Hands will occur Friday, September 18 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, September 19 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The UC men's basketball team is scheduled to help from 10 a.m. to Noon on Friday, Sept. 18.

"Move-in weekend is an important time for our new students and their families being it is one of their first experiences at the University. I remember how hectic it was when I moved in at UC as a freshman, so I thought it would be a great way for us to try and help others while they are moving into their dorms," said Mick Cronin, head men's basketball coach.

The UC women's basketball team is scheduled to volunteer Saturday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

"It is an important aspect of our program to help others and give back to our community," said first-year head women's basketball head coach Jamelle Elliott. "When I was on my interview last spring, I was blown away at how warm, friendly, and helpful people were here at UC. I hope that during the move-in weekend we are able to help the new students and families feel as comfortable during their move-in as others did for me when I was transitioning to Cincinnati."
