CINCINNATI - Following a strong season-opening performance at the Queen City Invitational on Sept. 12, the University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country teams head to the 15th Annu a l B r . John "P a ddy" Doyle Meet of Champions at historic Van Cortlandt Park, in the Bronx, N.Y., on Sept. 19. The meet is hosted by Iona College and the Bearcats have some familiarity with Van Cortlandt Park as it was the site of the 2008 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships.

This race honors former Iona cross country coach Br. John "Paddy" Doyle, who was Iona's assistant track coach from 1960-67 before taking over as head coach from 1975-85.

The women's team competes in the 6K race against 22 other teams, including nine regionally ranked teams in both Divisions I and II. Cincinnati is ranked No. 14 in the Great Lakes Region, and the Bearcats will also be competing against BIG EAST foes Rutgers, Seton Hall, and St. John's.

The men's team also will run against 22 other institutions in the 8K race. 11 of the 22 teams are regionally ranked in Division I and Division II. Included in the group of ranked teams are host Iona, which is ranked No. 7 nationally and No. 1 in the Northeast region, while Wisconsin is ranked No. 4 nationally and No. 1 in the Great Lakes region.

At the Queen City Invitational, the UC had a 1-2-3 finish in the women's race led by senior Jocelyn McCauley, who was named BIG EAST Women's Athlete of the Week on Sept. 17. In the men's race, sophomore Eric Finan clocked in at a first-place time of 15:16, leading Cincinnati to a second-place showing.
