NEW YORK, N.Y. - The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country teams finished ninth and seventh, respectively, at the 15th annual Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park Saturday afternoon. In the men's race, which featured runners from 11 regionally ranked teams, including nationally-ranked Wisconsin and Iona, UC sophomore Eric Finan finished first out of 203 runners to pace the Bearcats scoring effort.

The men's team combined to score 236 points to earn the ninth-place showing, while the women's team collectively scored 204 points in the highly-competitive event.

Finan ran a time of 25:21.60 in the 8K race, besting Wisconsin's Craig Miller by six seconds to claim the individual championship. Junior David Barry was the next-best finisher for UC, running a 34th-place time of 26:23.47, and he was followed by fellow junior Ricky Lupp, who crossed the line in a time of 26:25.05, placing him 36th. Junior Brian Berling and freshman Chase Beckmann rounded out the scoring placing 82nd and 83rd with times of 27:32.84 and 27:35.17, respectively.

In the women's race, the UC trio of Jocelyn McCauley, senior Tamara Masters, and junior Lilian Jelimo combined to score 29 points for the Bearcats with a fourth-place finish, an 11th-place finish, and a 14th-place finish, respectively. McCauley clocked a time of 23:01.62 in the 6K race, while Masters (23:21.60) and Jelimo were separated by just 10 seconds (23:31.32). Michele McKenney and Katie Lewnard completed the UC scoring with times of 25:15.73 and 25:30.04, respectively.

Cincinnati has two weeks off before competing at the All-Ohio Cross Country Championships on Friday, Oct. 2, in Delaware, Ohio.
