SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team opened the fall season with a 12th-place finish at the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup at the Cardinal Club Golf Course on Tuesday (Sept. 22).
Freshman Alex Carl (Union, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) led the Bearcats in her first collegiate event, finishing tied for 27th with a three-round total of 74-79-76=229. Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Philippines/Miriam College) was just three shots back of Carl, placing in a tie for 32nd with a 79-78-75=232.
UC posted a total of 314-313-317=944, three shots back of 11th-place Eastern Kentucky (321-312-308=941).
Host Louisville won the team title, posting a 289-286-291=866. Sara-Maude Juneau of Louisville won the individual title with a three-under 72-69-72=213.
Cincinnati will host the UC Fall Invitational on Sept. 28-29 at Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio.
