CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati football team and PNC Bank, a member of the PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., kick off the PNC Grow Up Great "First Down" program Saturday as UC welcomes Fresno State into Nippert Stadium for a noon matchup.
For every Bearcats first down during the 2009 season, the PNC Grow Up Great school readiness program will donate $50 to United Way of Greater Cincinnati Success By 6, a program that helps children under six build a strong foundation for future success in school and in life.
"Having PNC on board as a premiere partner with this key program is outstanding, as both PNC and UC Athletics make it a priority to be integrated in our community" said Director of Athletics Mike Thomas. "By providing critical funding to the United Way, we are all making a difference in the lives of Cincinnati kids."
PNC Grow Up Great is an unprecedented 10-year, $100 million investment in school readiness to help prepare children from birth to age five for success in school and life. PNC provides leadership, advocacy, resources and volunteers to assist parents, caregivers and communities in their efforts to increase the potential for young children to succeed.
"Our support of this collaboration with the University of Cincinnati and United Way is another strategic investment to help our non-profit partners, preschools and caregivers develop stronger, smarter and healthier families and communities," said Kay Geiger, regional president for PNC Bank in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
