LOUISVILLE - Logan Ballinger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) scored an unassisted goal in the 16th minute to lead the University of Cincinnati women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Saint Louis in the Courtyard by Marriott Airport Cardinal Classic at Cardinal Park.
Andrea Kaminski (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) recorded seven saves and earned her 12th career shutout, moving into a tie for seventh place in UC's career shutout record.
"We played well in the first half," said head coach Michelle Salmon. "Saint Louis came out strong in the second half and posed some real threats but Andrea Kaminski came up big-time in a big moment to help us preserve the win.
The Bearcats were outshot, 12-5, for the game, and the Billikens owned a commanding 9-6 advantage on corner kicks, but UC's early goal was enough for the win.
"Any win on the road is good but we have a short amount of time to get ready for an excellent South Carolina team on Sunday," said Salmon.
UC will play South Carolina at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6 in the final day of action in the Courtyard by Marriott Airport Cardinal Classic hosted by the University of Louisville.
