Hello everyone, my name is Reggie Philpott, and I'd like to welcome you to my Cincinnati Bearcats women's hoops blog! Last season, I covered the team for UC's independent newspaper, The News Record, and this year I am bringing you your team news straight from the source! Here you will find insights, game previews, reviews, interviews and other features throughout the season, so be sure to check back often!
The Bearcats have struggled since joining the Big East conference, but with new head coach Jamelle Elliott bringing championship-caliber basketball experience from the University of Connecticut, this season looks to be a promising new beginning as the Bearcats hope to rebound from a last-place finish in the conference standings a year ago. UC will look for leadership on the court this year from guard Kahla Roudebush, who earned all-Big East second team honors last season, as well as guard Shanasa Sanders, who last year was selected to the all-Big East freshman team.
As the season prepares to kick into high gear next month, check here in the meantime for Q & A's with coaches as well as other features. There's nothing in the world like the college basketball season, and I'm excited to be following the Bearcats this year right along with you!
