Final Results

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's golf team recovered from a rough opening round to finish third at the Bearcats Invitational, held at Traditions Golf Club on Oct. 12-13.

Joe Kastelic (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard) fired a 76-72-70=218 to finish third, one shot back of second-place Eric Steger of Ball State (72-73-72=217). Nathan Sutherland of Miami (OH) won the individual title with rounds of 74-69-67=210.

The Bearcats posted rounds of 306-295-296=897, four shots back of Ball State (296-293-304=893) and eight shots behind tournament champ, Miami (305-287-297=889).

Freshman Zack Bates (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) tied for 15th with rounds of 78-71-75=224. Classmate David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) was three shots back in a tie for 25th, posting 78-76-73=227.

Freshman Matt Ledom (Leawood, Kan./Rockhurst Jesuit Prep) tied a season-low with a 74 in the first round and finished tied for 51st with rounds of 74-76-82=232.

The Bearcats will have a couple of weeks off before heading to Southern Pines, N.C. for The Match Play on Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
