CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati kicker/punter Jacob Rogers (Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw) was named the BIG EAST Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Rogers was a key player in No. 5/6 Cincinnati's 34-17 win at No. 21/21 USF as he scored 10 points and averaged 45.1 yards on seven punts. Rogers made field goals of 37 and 29 yards, had a long punt of 53 yards and had two kickoffs go for touchbacks. Rogers totaled 20 kicks from scrimmage counting kickoffs, punts, field goals, and extra points.
Pittsburgh's Dion Lewis was the offensive player of the week, while UConn's Lawrence Wilson earned the defensive honor.
Backup quarterback Zach Collaros (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville) earned a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll after rushing for a career-best 132 yards and two touchdowns while going 4-for-7 with 72 passing yards.
UC (6-0, 2-0 BIG EAST) returns home to take on Louisville on Oct. 24 at Nippert Stadium. The homecoming game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and be televised on ESPNU. Tickets for the game are sold out.
