CINCINNATI - After helping the University of Cincinnati volleyball team extend its home winning streak to 23 matches, tying the school record for most consecutive home wins, freshman Jordanne Scott (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) was named the BIG EAST Conference Volleyball Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced this afternoon.
With the honor, Scott joins Syracuse's Laura Homann as the only two freshmen to have earned the award twice this season.
In Cincinnati's lone match against Louisville, Scott posted a strong overall performance for the Bearcats with six kills, four blocks, and two digs in the win. Scott's 1.33 bps this week ranked fifth in the conference.
After registering 12 kills, eight digs, two service aces, two assists, and a block, while hitting .524 in the win over the Cardinals, sophomore Missy Harpenau was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
The Bearcats return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 27, when they travel to Dayton, Ohio, to take on Wright State at 7 p.m. at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium.
