CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati baseball team recently reached an agreement with Reebok to become the equipment provider of Bearcats baseball. The 2010 season will be baseball's first season with Reebok, which is a subsidiary of the adidas Group. UC Athletics is entering the fifth year of a six-year term with adidas as the Official Footwear and Apparel Provider to the Bearcats.
Reebok will provide the Bearcats with the most up-to-date equipment including bats, batting gloves, gloves, catcher's gear, and baseballs. UC players will have the opportunity to swing the Vector-O series of bats, the most comprehensive and technologically advanced equipment that Reebok has ever produced. The Vector-O series of bats have a unique handle design that reduces drag resulting in higher swing speed and more distance.
"We are excited to add Reebok baseball equipment to our program and proud to be partnered with them," said head coach Brian Cleary. "I am particularly excited about the benefit to our hitters from the innovative bats, specifically the O-Bat technology. We look forward to a great relationship between our program and Reebok baseball."
"At Reebok Baseball, we are committed to developing and producing the most innovative high-performance equipment available," said John Loiars, Director of Research and Development for Reebok. "The Vector O bat is an engineering breakthrough, and has truly been a game changer for the teams and players that have used it in its inaugural season. In 2010 and beyond, we're very excited to have the opportunity to work with the University of Cincinnati baseball program and we are committed to providing the players with equipment that will enable them to perform at their highest levels."
