Last year the men's and women's cross country teams finished in sixth- and ninth-place, respectively, at the BIG EAST Championships. Looking to build on an impressive freshmen performance at the Championships is sophomore Eric Finan. Last season Finan recorded the sixth-fastest time among freshmen with a time of 25:28. On the women's side junior Lilian Jelimo crossed the line in 25th place with a time of 21:24, which was the seventh best time among all sophomores last year.

The team recently competed in the Pre-Nationals meet, Oct. 17, hosted by Indiana State University. In a race that featured 60 teams, the men's team finished 32nd and women's team 30th, respectively.

Highlighting the meet on the men's side was Finan, who finished 123rd with a time of 25:21.9. Juniors David Barry and Ricky Lupp finished 144th and 168th with times both clocked under 26 minutes.

For the women, senior Jocelyn McCauley placed 71st with a time of 21:49.5. The other Top 100 finisher for UC was junior Lilian Jelimo and her time of 22:05.7 was good enough for 98th place.
