CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati track and field team took advantage of its off day on Wednesday, Nov. 11, by participating in two community service events around the Tri-state area. The team volunteered at the Freestore Foodbank in downtown Cincinnati and at the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Clifton.

At the Freestore Foodbank, the Bearcats helped stock shelves with canned and other non-perishable goods and assembled personal hygiene bags for those in need.

The student-athletes at the VA hospital assisted in organizing a fun afternoon of bingo for the many veterans in the area. The track and field team found it especially meaningful to spend time with those who have served in the military on a day that honors those who have served and those who are currently protecting our country.

" It was an honor to help those who served us so well," said first-year assistant coach Kris Mack.

UC's track and field squad open its indoor campaign with an intrasquad meet on Friday, Dec. 4, before heading to Kent, Ohio, for the Golden Flash Gala December 11-12.
