ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team dropped the championship game of the 2009 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout, 49-48, on Tuesday (Nov. 25) in Sullivan Arena.

Carla Jacobs (Cleveland, Ohio/Regina) led the Bearcats with 14 points and Kahla Roudebush (Noblesville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) scored 11 and added seven rebounds.

The Bearcats (3-2) held the host Seawolves (4-0) nearly 50 points below their season average of 97.3 points per game.

Roudebush had a look at the end of the game, but her three rimmed out and the Seawolves rebounded and escaped with their fourth straight Great Alaska Shootout title.

The Bearcats opened the game with a 3-0 lead, but a three-pointer from Kelsie Gourdin tied it at three at the 17:37 mark of the first. A Val Schuster (Wausau, Wis./Wausau Newman Central) three from the top of the key pushed UC's lead back to three and the Bearcats didn't trail for the rest of the half.

UC led by as much as 11 on two occasions in the first stanza. Jacobs led the Bearcats with nine first-half points.

Jacobs and Roudebush were named to the all-tournament team following the contest.

The Bearcats will return to Fifth Third Arena on Sunday, Nov. 29, to take on Dartmouth. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
