CINCINNATI - After a 25-10 regular season record and a 12-2 BIG EAST Conference mark, the University of Cincinnati volleyball team was one of 33 at-large teams selected for the upcoming 2009 NCAA Volleyball Tournament. Cincinnati will play Ohio State in the opening round in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, Dec. 4.

The winner of the Cincinnati/Ohio State match-up will meet the winner of the match between Lipscomb and No. 9 California on Saturday, Dec. 5.

"I'm happy for our girls and our program," said head coach Reed Sunahara. "They have worked hard to get to this point, and we are looking forward to playing in the NCAA Tournament."

The Bearcats are making their second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Last season, UC defeated Western Kentucky in the first round, 3-2, before falling to Illinois in the second round.
