CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team dropped a 68-57 decision against Kentucky on Friday (Dec. 4) morning in Fifth Third Arena.

The Bearcats (4-3) overcame a 10-point first-half deficit, but committed 25 turnovers that Kentucky (8-0) turned into 30 points.

Carla Jacobs (Cleveland, Ohio/Regina) led the Bearcats with 15 points and Shareese Ulis (Toledo, Ohio/Trinity Valley C.C.) added 10 with four assists.

Daress McClung (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North), making her first career start, scored nine points and added seven rebounds, two assists, and a pair of steals.

Kentucky opened the game scoring 10 of the first 12 points, causing a UC timeout at the 15:05 mark. The Wildcats pushed the lead to 16-6 at the 10:17 mark and led 28-18 and 30-20 late in the half.

The Bearcats, who turned it over 17 times in the first stanza, cut the lead to six, 32-26, on a Stephanie Stevens (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) three-pointer at the end of the half.

UC opened the second half on a 17-4 run to take a seven-point lead at 43-36 with 14:13 to play. The Bearcats pushed the lead to eight minutes later on a Val Schuster (Wausau, Wis./Wausau Newman Central) layup at the 12:51 mark.

UC went the next seven-plus minutes without a field goal as Kentucky embarked on an 11-0 run, taking a 50-47 lead on a Carly Morrow three with 8:47 to go.

The game went back and forth over the next four minutes. With UC trailing 56-53, Jacobs nailed a three from the corner to draw even at 56 with 3:06 to go.

UK scored the next 10 points to go up 66-56 and eventually won, 68-57, to stay undefeated on the season at 8-0.

Kahla Roudebush (Nobelsville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) scored nine points and grabbed six boards. Shanasa Sanders (Jacksonville, Fla./Ribault Senior) scored seven points and made her first field goal since the season opener, a layup off an offensive rebound at the 8:45 mark of the first half.

The Bearcats will take on No. 9/10 Xavier on Sunday, Dec. 6, in the 2009 Skyline Chili Women's Crosstown Shootout. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. from XU's Cintas Center.
