NEW CASTLE, Ind. - Former University of Cincinnati basketball standout Cheryl Cook will be inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame on April 24, 2010.

Cook produced one of Indiana's most decorated high school careers at Indianapolis Washington High School, earning Indianapolis Star Indiana Miss Basketball honors in 1981 after averaging 29.7 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists as a senior for the Continentals.

Cook scored a school-record 2,367 points during her four-year career at UC, which was the seventh highest total in NCAA women's basketball at the conclusion of her career, and set a school record for assists. She helped the United States to gold medals at the 1983 Pan American Games and 1983 World Championships. She graduated from Cincinnati in 1985 and played six years professionally in Spain and Italy.

Cook was a two-time Metro Conference Player of the Year selection and was honored by selection to the James P. Kelly University of Cincinnati Athletic Hall of Fame. She is the only women's player to have her jersey number, 24, retired.

Cook remains involved in basketball as a coach at the youth facility where she is employed in Cleveland, Ohio.
