PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team dropped a 44-33 decision at Rutgers on Saturday (Jan. 16) afternoon in the Louis Brown Athletic Center.

The Bearcats (8-8, 1-3 BIG EAST) shot 25 percent for the game, hitting on just 12-of-48 from the floor. UC held Rutgers (10-7, 3-1) to just 34 percent shooting, but couldn't overcome its shooting woes.

Shareese Ulis (Toledo, Ohio/Trinity Valley C.C.) was the lone Bearcat in double figures with 10 points.

Kahla Roudebush (Noblesville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) scored seven points and moved into 11th place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,239 points, passing Regina Williams (1,237 points).

Michelle Jones' (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) layup at the 16:30 mark of the first half gave her 900 career points. She scored eight points with a game-high nine rebounds and now has 906 career points.

The Bearcats shot just 25 percent in the first half (5-for-20) and turned the ball over six times.

UC held a 7-6 lead with 16:13 to go in the half, but a 9-0 run by Rutgers, capped by a Ray three-pointer, pushed the lead to 15-7. Rutgers shot 42 percent in the stanza and took a 23-14 lead into the locker room.

UC opened the second half on an 11-7 run to pull within five, 30-25, with 11 minutes to play, but that was a close as the Bearcats would get as the Scarlet Knights closed out the game with a 14-8 run to produce the final margin.

Brittany Ray led Rutgers with a game-high 13 points, six below her season average. Rashidat Junaid was the only other player in double figures with 11 points.

The Bearcats were outrebounded, 35-34, and turned it over 11 times. They did force nine Rutgers turnovers and held the Scarlet Knights 14 points below their season average.

Val Schuster (Wausau, Wis./Wausau Newman Central) made her seventh start of the season and first since the Dartmouth game on Nov. 29.

The Bearcats return to Fifth Third Arena to take on No. 24/18 Georgetown on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m.
