OXFORD, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams split a dual meat with Miami (OH) University, Friday at the Nixon Aquatic Center. The men' team tied the RedHawks 150-150 while the women's team dropped a 180.5-119.5 decision.
The men's meet came down to the final race, with the host RedHawks taking first and third to earn the victory. UC's relay quartet clocked in at 1:25.04, just behind Miami's winning time of 1:24.68.
Individually, Jeremy Peter and Josh Schneider won three events apiece, while Lange Gilby and Stephen Cunningham both won a pair of events.
Peter took first place in the 200 IM (1:54.47), the 200 backstroke (2:03.16), and 100 backstroke (51.53) while Schneider swept the top spot in the 50 freestyle (20.07), 100 freestyle (45.03), and 100 butterfly (49.55).
Gilby swept the women's spring freestyle events, winning the 50 freestyle in 23.78 and the 100 freestyle in 51.68.
Cunningham won both distance freestyle events, winning the 500 in 4:41.38 and the 1,000 in 9:45.75.
Elinore de Jong won the 100 butterfly in 55.91 while Liz Hansson took top honors in the 200 freestyle, clocking 1:53.62. Laurie Caudy took first place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.34.
Nathan Williams also earned an event win, taking first place in the men's 200 freestyle, clocking 1:42.07 for the victory.
The Bearcats return to the pool on Jan. 30, taking on Kentucky in Lexington at 1 p.m.
