SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Michelle Jones (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) scored a season-high 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the University of Cincinnati women's basketball team to a 64-47 win against Seton Hall on Saturday (Jan. 23) afternoon in Walsh Gymnasium.

Jones connected on a career-high 9-of-11 field goals and scored the most points since a career-high 24 against Tennessee Tech on Dec. 21, 2006.

Kahla Roudebush (Noblesville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Bearcats (9-9, 2-4 BIG EAST), who defeated the Pirates for the second straight season.

Cincinnati held a 45-35 edge in rebounds and shot 46 percent for the game, compared to SHU's 28 percent.

Kandice Green and Ebonie Williams led the Pirates (8-12, 0-7) with 14 points apiece.

The Bearcats went to Jones early in the first half and she responded, scoring the first nine points of the game for Cincinnati. After a Shareese Ulis (Toledo, Ohio/Trinity Valley C.C.) jumper gave the Bearcats a 20-16 lead with 8:39 to play in the half, UC went 7:30 without a point and the Pirates used an 8-0 run to take a 24-20 lead. SHU took a 26-22 lead into the half.

The Bearcats shot 44 percent in the stanza, but committed 12 turnovers and allowed eight Seton Hall points off those turnovers. Jones had 11 first-half points on 5-of-6 from the floor.

The Bearcats opened the second half with a 12-2 run to take a 34-28 lead with 14:44 play and didn't trail again. The Pirates cut it to 35-32 on a Letitia Curry layup with 13:24 to go, but that was as close as they would get.

Cincinnati shot 48 percent from the floor in the second half and knocked down 13-of-18 free throws, including 7-of-8 to close out the game.

Ulis had nine points and Carla Jacobs (Cleveland, Ohio/Regina) added eight with five rebounds.

The Bearcats wrap up a two-game road trip with a date at DePaul on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Tip is set for 8 p.m. ET from McGrath Arena.
